Julianne-Moore

Julianne Moore is known for her less is more makeup style, but for the recent cover of The Edit she shows us her more is Moore side!

Smokey eyeliner paired with a neutral face is a sophisticated evening look that is perfect for a dimly lit New Year’s party.

Here are 3 steps to creating this look:

  1. Prep and Prime.  Avoid a “muddy” look and keep makeup in place with a nude eye primer like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden (1).  Squeeze onto finger tip and apply to lower eye lid before blending up toward brows with your base shadow brush.  Allow to dry, then press on a flesh tone shadow with your base shadow brush and blend out the edges with your deluxe crease brush.  Try Lorac Eye Shadow Star Quality or Spice (2).
  2. Add Emphasis.  Dampen your accent brush (3) with water before grabbing pigment from a cake liner in black or dark blue (shown), draw a tight line along the upper and lower lash line. Dip the tips of your shading brush into the cake liner and “smudge” (use a back and forth movement without lifting brush off of skin) onto the lash line.  Continue smudging liner around eye and use a cotton swab dipped in face lotion to remove any mistakes or pigment fall out.  Try Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Bleu Marine (4).
  3. Black Out.  Sweep a black eye pencil along the water line, and fill in any flesh showing on the inside of eye and along the upper water line for a flawless defined eye.  Try Stilla Smudgestick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray (5).
