Real Trends: Bronze and Peach

Peach-bronze

Spring is here (finally), and even though there may be April showers, that doesn’t mean you can’t look like you got a little sun!  Add warmth, definition and a little glow with a bronze and peach palette.

Follow these 4 simple steps for a luminous spring face:

  1. Fresh Skin.  Keep your skin looking natural, but even out your complexion while protecting and hydrating it with one of the new CC creams like Oil of Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Moisturizer (1).  Sweep over your face with your stippling brush (2) for a “barely there” finish.
  2. Bronze Wash.  Apply a sheer layer of bronze shadow over your lower eye lid with your base shadow brush and blend out the edges with your deluxe crease brush.  Add extra oomph—press on an amber or gold shimmer on eye lid right above the pupil to “pop” your eyes.  Try Maybelline EyeStudio Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Bronze Blowout (3).
  3. Light Glow.  Use a sheer peach blush like Benefit CORALista (4) and blend across your cheekbones with an open kabuki brush, then lightly sweep over the chin, nose and forehead to add warmth.  The golden undertones in peach look great on all skin tones and harmonize beautifully with bronze shades.
  4. Pinch of Peach. Swap out your nude lip for a brown-based peach gloss like Elizabeth Arden Color Luminous Lip Gloss in Sunset (5).  The shade is neutral enough for everyday and will brighten your skin tone to boot!

Real Tips: Makeup Dupes

At Real Techniques, we may recommend products from every price point, but we know how expensive it can be to update your makeup kit.  Here are some great brands that produce quality products at an affordable price.

Try these 4 makeup dupes:

  1. Cool Quad.  Eye shadow compacts are an easy way to refresh your collection, but they can be pricey.  If you love Dior’s 5 Coleur Eye Shadow in Navy ($59) try Avon’s True Color Eye Shadow Quad in Denim Blues ($9) and have money left over for your cheek and lip!
  2. Chic Cheek.  Cult favorite, Nars’ Orgasm Blush ($41) may be universally flattering, but if it doesn’t complement your budget, grab the E.L.F Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Antigua ($3).  Apply bronzer in circular motions with your Buffing Brush on and under your cheekbones, then sweep blush on apples of cheeks for a “happy” glow.
  3. Base Color.  A go-with-anything liner doesn’t have to break the bank.  Skip the department store brands like Bobbi Brown’s Lip Liner in Brownie Pink ($20) and pick up Prestige’s Lip Liner in Cameo ($3.99) at your drugstore.  Apply all over lip and blend in with your Detailer Brush, before applying gloss or lipstick for long-lasting base.
  4. Just Bitten.  Autumn is the perfect time to try out a berry inspired lip tint.  Tarte’s Lipsurgence Matte Lip Stain ($24) has a variety of wearable shades, but for a fraction of the price choose a NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain ($4.99).  Paint on lips and press them together lightly to blend pigment, reapply until desired color is achieved.  If color looks too bold, sweep a little loose powder over dry stain with your Setting Brush.
