Real Tips: Looking Great for Photos

chanel_iman7Whether you like it or not ’tis the season for family photos!  There always seems to be that one person in your crew that must capture everything, no matter how early in the morning or how bad the lighting may be.

Even if you don’t have time for full makeup, here are 3 quick tips for looking better in photos:

  1. Powder your nose.  Flash photography bounces light off your face causing extra shine, so if you only have one product to use, grab your translucent powder.  Sweep powder along your forehead, nose and chin (T-Zone) with your powder brush then apply lightly under eyes and over your cheeks. Powder will also give your skin a more even look with or without foundation.
  2. Pinch your cheeks.  Avoid looking washed out in photos and add much need dimension (photos are flat after all!) to your face with blush.  Apply a pink or peach blush onto the apples of your cheeks with your blush brush and sweep up along your cheekbones.
  3. Bite your lip.  Women used to gently bite their lip to stimulate blood flow for a rosier lip when they wanted to appear more healthy and youthful.  Simulate that “just bitten” look with a creamy lip color that is just a shade or two deeper than your natural color.  Smooth on color then press in with your finger tips to work pigment into skin for a natural hue.
  4. Chin up.  Don’t forget your posture. Avoid having your photo taken while slumped in a chair or couch.  Stand up tall, look slightly above the camera and smile!
